A Day To Visit

Yesterday afternoon we went down to CHLA ( Children's Hospital Los Angeles ) to visit our nephew Malachi. Better known as our Kai Kai. He was diagnosed with leukemia in August of 2007 and we just found out early Saturday morning that he has relapsed. Today, my sister-in-law, Rachel met with Kai's doctor to see what the status was and what the plan would be from here. When Kai was first diagnosed the cure rate was 90%. This morning the doctor said he now has a 1 in 4 chance of survival. I don't think any of us were prepared to hear that. Decisions are now being made as to what course of treatment will follow. Please pray for wisdom for Rachel and Wes and the doctors. We know that the days the Lord has for Kai were all numbered before the foundation of the world. Malachi means "Messenger of God" and I have seen how God has used that sweet little boy to be a light a testimony of the gospel. Our hearts ache at this news, yet we find comfort knowing that the Lord has a plan and purpose. Please be on your knees for Kai. For Rachel and Wes as parents. I have seen the Lord hold them up and strengthen them and it's been a great encouragement to me to see that. I have attached a few pictures from yesterday's visit. The kids so enjoy being together. We took a little walk around the 4th floor since Kai couldn't leave the floor due to his low blood counts. It was so precious to see all the cousins walking hand in hand and laughing together. We do serve a GOOD God. We know that whatever lies ahead that He will never leave us nor forsake us and He will never give us more than we can bear. He will enable us to ENDURE.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It SNOW!

Yesterday and today were such a special treat for us as we watched God's beautiful handiwork coat our neighborhood in a blanket of white. It has been over a decade since the Antelope Valley has seen anywhere near the amount of snowfall we received. It was so cool to sit there with the blinds open and Christmas tree lit and watch the silent show. I had never seen a snowflake before yesterday... it was awesome. Our God is an amazing creator. While the girls were napping, I crept outside to "play" for a minute. Being a true valley girl all my life, I have only seen snow a handful of times. I loved it! I am however thankful that it is a rare occurrence and I don't have to deal with shoveling a driveway or bundling everyone up on a daily basis. Today was the day we finally got to take the girls out and let them run wild in it. They had such a blast! They made their first snow angels and we built a snowman. Cambria was mostly interested in eating the snow. Go figure. We finished the day with some Christmas shopping and dinner at Sonic. They have a drive in so it was nice to have our warm food brought out to our car! Jimmy had to telecommute today due to the 14 freeway being closed and the Metrolink cancelling their early morning trains. He usually gets on the 4 a.m. train. And you thought your day started early! :-) Needless to say we were happy that daddy was able to share in the fun and memories today. We are blessed.

A Disney Christmas

This was our only "Disney Christmas" day we could squeeze in this year. Oddly enough, I didn't take any pictures with decorations in them so you really can't tell it is Christmastime. Oh, well. I did get some video of the day though. The big girls graduated to the teacups and rockets on this trip. They really are growing up so fast.

This use to be our house. But I'd rather have the people in the picture!

Avi's Had Enough

The girls were playing on my bed this morning and Cambria loves to jump on it... and avonlea. While Cambria was mid pounce on Avonlea I hear her say "AHH! Bia is killing me!" Just wait Avi. Just wait.
